HeathPad helps medical professionals create and communicate rich media publications to their colleagues and patients. It provides patients and the general public with free, easy and convenient access to premium online health information to help them make informed and lifestyle choices.

Be assured that we take the privacy of all our members seriously and we are committed to processing personal information fairly and in accordance with all applicable legislation.

This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) should be read in conjunction with the Terms & Conditions and Community Guidelines. Unless otherwise indicated any defined terms in this Privacy Policy shall have the same meanings given to them in HealthPad’s Terms & Conditions. Please read this Privacy Policy to understand how we use and protect any personal information that you provide to us.

Our Privacy Policy is intended to assist you in making informed decisions when using the Site and any services provided through it. By accessing or using the HealthPad you consent to the collection, use and transfer of your information by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 In order to give you the best possible experience on the Site we may collect personal information from you. The type of information we collect includes:
(a) your registration details which you voluntarily provide when you create a HealthPad user account including your name, age, sex, a photo provided by you, telephone number, postal address, geographical location, country of residence, email address, professional qualifications, employment details, bank details and a password;
(b) any information you include on your profile page (including your username and profile picture);
(c) details of the groups or questions that you either create or join and other HealthPad users or fields which you follow or who follow you (where applicable);
(d) any information that you submit to the Site including in any discussion heard, in response to any question;
(e) details of any reviews, polls or competitions on the Site which you participate in;
(f) details of any searches that you make on the Site and the content and pages that you viewed most recently or most regularly over a specified period;
(g) details of any bookmarks, that you set on the Site;
(h) details of any adverts that you place on the Site;
(i) any personal information contained in User Content which you make available on the Site;
(j) details of your interactions with HealthPad’s customer service team including details of any complaint, enquiry or any other feedback which you have provided to us;
(k) any other information relating to your general usage of the Site; and
(l) information about your computer and your visits to the Site including your IP address, geographical location, browser type, length of visit and number of page views and other general information relating to tracking your movements around the Site.

2.2 We may receive some information that you submit to any third party website or application that you access from a link contained in the Site. For example, we may know when you have clicked on an advertiser’s advert and accessed their website via our Site. Where you access the Site from a link on a third party website, we may collect data about which websites you had visited prior to accessing the Site and we may also collect aggregated information about how many users sign up to HealthPad after clicking through to the Site from a link on another website.

2.3 The Site includes functionality that enables you to import your profile information from you accounts with certain third party sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN. If you wish to use this functionality you will need to ensure that the privacy settings in that third party account give us permission to access your profile information from that third party website. We will only collect such information and use it as described in this Privacy Policy. You can change your privacy settings at any time in your third party website account to prevent us having access to that information.

2.4 The information that we collect from you will generally be information that you have submitted voluntarily, either when you registered with HealthPad or as you interact with the Site and other members of the HealthPad community. However please be aware that some of this information, such as the information detailed in paragraph 2.1(h) above, may also be collected from your computer automatically by cookies that are installed by the Site as you access and use the Site in order to help us improve the service we offer. Please see section 3 on Cookies below for more information on this.

3. COOKIES

3.1 In common with other websites we may use cookies to monitor trends, track your movements around the Site and improve the quality of our service. Cookies are small amounts of information in the form of text files which we store on your computer to allow us to monitor website traffic, improve the Site’s usability and to personalize the content of the site for you.

3.2 At present the only cookie that we use on the Site is one that stores information that enables the Site to recognize you when you log in and to enable you to stay logged in to the Site for the duration of your session.

3.3 If you do not wish us to install cookies on your computer for these purposes, you may change the settings on your internet browser to reject all cookies or to alert you prior to a cookie being loaded onto your computer. For more information about how to do this please consult the “Help” section of your browser. Please note that if you do set your browser to reject cookies, you may not be able to use all of the features of the Site.

3.4 In addition, advertisers whose advertisements appear on the Site may also use and place cookies on your computer and we have no control over this. Please consult the terms and conditions and privacy policies of such third party advertisers to find out how they collect and use your personal data and to establish whether they use cookies and what they may use them for.

4. HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE TO US

4.1 We may use your information in the following ways:
(a) to process the registration of your HealthPad user account and maintain your account online;
(b) to provide customer service to you in relation to your use of the Site, to deal with enquiries and complaints relating to the use of the Site and to notify you about any changes to the Site;
(c) to administer, support, improve, optimize and develop the Site including ensuring that content from the Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer;
(d) to enable other users of the Site to search for and access your profile page and any groups (provided they are public groups), Publications or any other User Content which you have created or made available in any way on the Site. When you create a new group you will be given the opportunity to make that group either public or private. If you decide to make a group private only users, which you have invited to join the group will be able to search for and access that group and any information contained within it;
(e) to suggest recommended content and provide links to pages of the Site, which we think may be of interest to you based on your browsing history and profile information;
(f) to enable third parties or other users of the Site to provide relevant advertising and links to other websites that we and/or they think you may be interested in as you are browsing and using the Site;
(g) for internal research, marketing and demographic studies to improve the products and services that we provide; and
(h) for security purposes.

4.2 We may use your information to provide you with details about our Site and the services available on it in the form of email notifications, newsletters and other marketing communications. You may opt out from receiving such marketing communications from us at any time by following the procedure to ‘unsubscribe’ that is specified in the email newsletter that you receive.

4.3 If you cancel your registration to the Site, all other content that you have submitted to the Site, including any personal information contained in that content, will remain viewable along with a non-active bio for you as the author of the content (showing your username and biographical information), but no further activity will be shown on your bio. If you wish, you can request complete removal of your inactive profile by email to privacy@kwatsi.com in which event the content will remain with only a reference to your username as the author of the content.

5. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

5.1 Other than as expressly set out in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise required or permitted by law, we will not share, sell or distribute any of the information you provide to us without your consent. We cannot control how other users of the Site use your information and so you should be careful when submitting information about yourself on the Site. In particular you should be especially careful when posting or disclosing your contact details or address on the Site itself.

5.2 We may disclose your personal information:
(i) to any third party to whom disclosure is necessary to enable us to provide you with any service, which you have subscribed to via the Site including, but not limited to, data processors such as web hosting companies;
(ii) where required to do so by law or court order;
(iii) to any person to whom disclosure is necessary to enable us to enforce our rights under this Privacy Policy or under the HealthPad Terms & Conditions; and
(iv) to any prospective buyer of all or substantially all of HealtyhPad’s assets in connection with the sale or transfer of those assets to any prospective buyer.

5.3 We would also like to share some of your personal data with our trusted third parties so that they can send you information about their products and services which we think you may be interested in. Please be assured that we will not share any information with third parties for this purpose without first obtaining your consent.

6. THIRD PARTY SITES

6.1 The Site contains links to other websites that are operated by third parties. We do not control and accept no liability or responsibility for those websites and this Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. Please consult the terms and conditions and privacy policies of those third party sites to find out how they collect and use your personal data and to establish whether they use cookies and what they may use them for.

6.2 Advertisements contained on HealthPad operate as links to the advertiser’s website and as such any information they collect by virtue of your clicking on that link will be collected and used by the relevant advertiser in accordance with the privacy policy of that advertiser.

7. SECURITY

7.1 The information that you provide to us will be collected and processed by us. Your personal data shall be stored on secure servers located within the United Kingdom and controlled by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

7.2 We shall adopt reasonable and appropriate security measures in line with technical and legal developments to protect your information from access by unauthorized persons and against unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction and damage. However, you acknowledge that data transmission over the internet is inherently unsecure and that therefore we cannot guarantee the security of data you send over the internet while accessing or using the Site.

8. ACCESSING OR DELETING YOUR INFORMATION

8.1 HealthPad will retain your information for as long as your HealthPad account remains active (or as long as is reasonably required to provide any service to you in connection with the Site) and thereafter for a reasonable period in accordance with applicable law. Certain information including any User Content that you have made publically available on the Site and have not already deleted or removed from the Site in accordance with our Terms and Conditions will remain accessible to other users of the Site even after you have de-registered and closed your HealthPad user account.

8.2 You may at any time request access to and/or, if incorrect, rectification of your personal data by contacting us at the address set out in clause 1.2 of this Privacy Policy or by e-mailing us at privacy@kwatsi.com. We reserve the right to ask you for proof of your identity and to charge you a fee of ten pounds sterling (£10) to meet our costs in complying with any data access request you make.

8.3 If you wish to de-register from the Site and have your profile page removed from the public pages of the Site you may do so at any time by emailing us at privacy@kwatsi.com.

9. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time with or without notice to you. In the event that we make any significant changes to this Privacy Policy which affect how we deal with your personal information we will notify you to make you aware of such changes. By continuing to access and use the Site after we have notified you or after the Privacy Policy has been amended in accordance with this clause you automatically consent to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with the amended privacy policy.
