Mr Bhangoo is a Consultant Neurologist with specialist interest in brain tumours, radiosurgery (including CyberKnife) and adult spinal surgery.

Mr Bhangoo qualified Victor Ludorum from medical School with the Medical School Gold Medal and Honours. After his general surgical training (Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, England), his specialist training in neurosurgery was completed on the West Midlands neurosurgical rotation and he was awarded the Norman Dott Gold Medal in Neurosurgery on completion of his training as the highest ranked neurosurgical trainee in the United Kingdom. Following this, Mr Bhangoo spent one year studying both the medical and surgical treatments of brain tumours as well as undertaking research at one of Europe’s leading cancer institute – The Institute Gustauve Roussy, Paris, France.

In addition to his knowledge in all areas of cranial and spinal neurosurgery; including degenerative spine disease which incorporates the management of back and neck pain, arm pain and sciatica together with peripheral nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, he has specialist expertise in the management of brain and spinal tumours. This includes the latest minimally invasive techniques for brain tumour removal as well as radiosurgery. He is one of the few neurosurgeons in the UK trained in both GammaKnife and CyberKnife radiosurgery for treating these conditions.

Currently he is Clinical Director for Neuroscience at King’s College Hospital in London and the Neurosurgical Tutor to the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.

Mr Bell specialises in Complex Spinal Surgery. He studied at Merchant Taylor’s School in Liverpool before moving to the University of Edinburgh Medical School where he graduated in 1996. He completed his basic surgical training in Edinburgh before moving to London to complete his higher surgical training in Neurosurgery and Complex Spine surgery.

He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2000 and obtained his Fellowship in Neurosurgery in 2007. He is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS) where he sits on the executive board as well as the North American Spine Society (NASS). He is the National Lead Elect for the British Spine Registry with responsibility for quality assurance and outcome assessment in spinal surgery. Mr Bell also has national responsibility for the administration of the British Spine Registry. He is the clinical co-lead of South East London and Kent Spinal Network and has been instrumental in the organisation of regional spinal services.

At King’s College Hospital he is a key part of the Supra-Regional Complex Spine Team. His specialisms include degenerative spinal disease, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS), disc replacement surgery, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, back pain, spinal tumours, metastatic spinal cord compression and spinal fractures.

He lectures nationally and internationally on topics such as back pain, spinal tumours, myelopathy, neck pain and the ageing spine.

Sinan Barazi grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark.

He attended Winchester College before starting Medical School in London. He qualified from King’s College Hospital School of Medicine in 1996, and completed his internship/house jobs a year later. Before starting his Basic Surgical Training, he served with the 14th Parachute Regiment (a part of the French Rapid Reaction Force) in Toulouse, France.

After completing the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002, he started his Higher Surgical Training in Neurosurgery in London, working at King’s College Hospital, Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, St. George’s Hospital, and Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre. He completed the FRCS (Neurosurgery) in 2009. At the end of his training he completed a fellowship in endoscopic pituitary surgery in Bologna under the supervision of Dr Giorgio Frank.

Following completion of the FRCS, he trained under Andrew King and Scott Rutherford in Manchester as Neurosurgical Skull Base Fellow. He was then appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon to King’s College Hospital in 2010, with sub-specialty interests in facial pain, endoscopic pituitary/anterior skull base surgery, and lateral skull base surgery.

Mr Sanj Bassi has been a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital since 2003. After gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons England, he trained in neurosurgery in Nottingham. This was followed by a fellowship at the Necker Hospital in Paris and then at the Montefiore Hospital in New York.

On returning from New York, he worked as a Paediatric Neurosurgical Fellow at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford before taking up a position as a Consultant in Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgery at King’s College Hospital.

In addition to his expertise in degenerative spine disease, which includes the management of back and neck pain, arm pain and sciatica together with peripheral nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, his main interests are in all aspects of paediatric neurosurgery. This includes the management of brain and spinal cord tumours in all age groups, metastatic brain tumours, hydrocephalus, spasticity, Spina Bifida, Chiari malformations and syringomyelia.

Mr Bassi has published extensively on adult and paediatric neurosurgery and lectures both nationally and internationally.

He is an Examiner for the Intercollegiate Examination in Neurosurgery for the Royal College of Surgeons, Lead for clinical audit at King’s College Hospital and an examiner for King’s College Hospital medical school.

He is the Medical Director of London Neurosurgery Partnership and London Neuroscience Academy.

Keyoumars underwent dual postgraduate training in surgery and medicine, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1997 and the Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Glasgow (FRCS) in 1998. Thereafter, he underwent higher specialist training in general neurosurgery in London being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery (FRCS SN) in 2002. His sub-specialist training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery included a fellowship in France with Prof. Benabid, generaly considered as the founder of the modern deep brain stimulation surgery, which led to a MD degree. He was appointed as a consultant neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital in January 2007. He is also a Reader at King’s College London.

In addition to his expertise in degenerative spine disease, which includes the management of back and neck pain, arm pain and sciatica together with peripheral nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, Mr Ashkan’s main interests are neuromodulation surgery and brain tumours. This includes deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation and occipital nerve stimulation for movement disorders, pain and headaches and image guided, minimally invasive and stereotactic surgery for brain tumours including awake craniotomies, Gamma and Cyberknife radiosurgery.

Action Radiotherapy believes that every cancer patient in the UK should have access to the best radiotherapy treatment available.

We aim to support radiotherapy research and development and support radiotherapy professionals by providing online tools to enhance collaboration.

Radiotherapy is effective and inexpensive compared with some cancer treatments and second only to surgery in its potential to cure cancer. Even small improvements in how radiotherapy is delivered could lead to large increases in the number of patients cured, and improve palliative treatment for others

Action Radiotherapy was launched in the House of Lords in July 2010. It grew out of the Academic Clinical Oncology and Radiobiology Research Network (ACORRN) which was launched initially by the National Cancer Research Institute in 2005 to harness the power of the radiation research base in the UK.

Action Radiotherapy receives no government or other funding and its activities are entirely dependent on charitable donations.

Mr Tolias has been a consultant Neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital since September 2005.

He has a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Warwick and extensive research experience in traumatic brain injury.

Mr Tolias has vast Neurovascular experience and currently has the largest series of aneurysm surgeries in the UK (NNAP 2017).

He specialises in surgery of cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernomas and dural fistulas and rare conditions like Moya Moya.

He is one of the few surgeons in the UK who routinely performs cerebral vascular bypasses. He also performed the first ELANA bypass in the UK.

Mr Tolias has pioneered the use of bypass techniques in the management of cerebral vasculopathies.

He is trained in Gamma Knife and Cyberknife and routinely utilises innovative neuromonitoring technologies in the surgery of complex vascular lesions like arteriovenous malformations.

He is one of the few Neurosurgeons nationally who regularly undertakes surgical extirpation of arteriovenous malformations when indicated.

His outcomes are part of national databases and remain among the best in his peer group (NNAP 2017).

Alongside his subspecialty interest Mr Tolias has an active spinal practice dealing with problems of the cervical and lumbar spine. These can include sciatica, brachalgia, radiculopathies and pain management through both injections and radiofrequency ablation as well as surgical interventions.

Mr Tolias is the director of the first and only Royal College of Surgeons of England accredited National Neurovascular Surgical Fellowship based at King’s College Hospital.

He has over 60 papers in peer reviewed journals and more than 150 presentations at conferences. He regularly lectures in the UK and worldwide on topics including complex arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, Gamma Knife and Cyberknife as well as degenerative spine conditions.

The London Neurosurgery Partnership has access to all of the latest neurosurgical technologies including the CyberKnife® and Gamma Knife® for radiosurgery which avoids the use of conventional open surgery in some cases and Minimally Invasive Techniques for both Cranial and Spinal neurosurgery when this is not possible. A key aspect of making use of such cutting edge technologies is the decision making process involved and this, in our opinion, is best done by a group of clinicians who are used to working together as a team to ensure that the latest technology and techniques are used appropriately based on the latest clinical guidelines.

Prof Leen currently works as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary's NHS hospitals, as well as the Princess Grace Hospital privately. He is also Professor of Radiology at Imperial College London and has over 15 years’ experience in ablative therapies.

He leads a clinical ultrasound group with a focus on microbubble ultrasound assessment. He has a specialist interest in ablative therapies for cancer of the kidneys, liver, lung and pancreas and has established and developed a number of percutaneous ablative therapies including the new cancer treatment, NanoKnife, a thermal-based and irreversible electroporation technique. Alongside his interest in novel oncological ablative therapies, Prof Leen has a particular interest in liver imaging, new diagnostic applications in cancer as well as the development of navigation and robotics for percutaneous ablative therapies. He has a long-standing interest in altered hepatic haemodynamics and micro-metastases.

I am a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Hammersmith Hospital Imperial NHS Trust. My particular interest is in the oncological delivery and treatment of Liver tumours by endovascular means.
